Other Centers collaborating with IEM
The Center for Neuroengineering was established as part of the
Institute for Translational Neuroscienceto promote interdisciplinary research in the field of
neuroengineering. Participating faculty come from various departments and colleges including biomedical sciences and engineering and physical sciences.
The mission of the Center for Neuroengineering is to advance neuroengineering research and foster collaborations between neuroscience and engineering
faculty at the University of Minnesota.
The Center for Biotransport supports the collaboration of faculty members
who have related research focus areas, facilitates the ongoing discussion of research questions and progress among the research groups through formal
supergroup meetings, and encourages the sharing of resources and expertise among the groups. The Center for Biotransport has two unifying, global objectives:
- Investigate mechanisms of thermally and osmotically-induced cell injury and in biopreservation
- Develop methodologies that enhance cell preservation and disease treatment using thermal tools.
The mission of the Biomedical Informatics and Computational Biology (BICB) program is to conduct research
and provide education through the establishment of academic and research programs.
The Experimental Surgical Services team has over 25 years of experience in pre-clinical assessment for the medical industry. ESS is the industry leader in
researching and testing cardiac devices and surgical techniques and has completed over 500 open heart procedures a year and over 1,500 procedures annually.
